Dutch Croatian photographer Sanja Marušić (1991) studied photography at the KABK in the Hague from 2009 till 2013. She travels the world to create otherworldly images. Marusic uses herself as a prop in her self made costumes, creating one minute human sculptures in outstretched, desolate landscapes with hard sunlight and bright contrasts. She manipulates her images so the landscape and the moment itself become more abstract, creating a surreal new world, using it as a kind of escapism for herself and the viewer. Her experimental approach to colour, composition, materials and manipulations lead to dreamlike, cinematic yet alienating scenes, playing with our relation to the subconscious.
